Each summer, Great Valley Writing Project offers hands-on classes to help teachers discover easy, inexpensive, and exciting ways to help their students create and publish beautiful class book projects. Each GVWP class is taught by experienced K-12 teachers, and most classes offer the option to purchase units through Stanislaus State. Scroll down for info, or visit the GVWP Calendar of Events. |

Great Valley Writing Project offers free and low-cost courses for educators!
GVWP Demonstration Labs for Teachers (K-12)
In these 3-unit courses, teachers collaboratively explore practices that address state standards for writing in all content areas. Participants read, discuss, and observe expert teachers working with real students in a full-sized classroom laboratory. Students in each classroom create projects for publication, and the works are compiled into digital publications and books.
Dates: Two weeks in June from 8:30 am - 12:45 pm.
Location: School site in south SJ County (exact location announced in March).

GVWP Writing Matters — Super Saturday Seminars for Teachers (K-12)
From October through April, GVWP offers monthly "Super Saturday" seminars where teachers can learn new approaches for integrating writing and improving student learning in all content areas. Registration fees are nominal – around $25.00, and teachers who attend five sessions can earn one unit of credit from Stanislaus State.
Super Saturdays run once per month at CSUS campuses in Turlock and Stockton.

Class Book Bonanza Workshop for Teachers at Great Valley Bookfest
On October 8th (in conjunction with the Bookfest), Great Valley Writing Project will offer the Class Book Bonanza for educators. Several GVWP Teacher Consultants will share sample writing and publishing lessons; participants will get a chance to ask questions and discuss their own ideas; and all attendees have a chance to win fabulous door prizes!

GVWP Family & Youth Activities at Great Valley Bookfest
On October 8th (in conjunction with the Bookfest), teacher consultants from Great Valley Writing Project will conduct organized activities where family members can work together to record their stories in personal family book projects. These sessions provide a perfect model for teachers who would like to initiate family literacy projects in their classrooms.
